The Congolese Franc (CDF) is the official currency of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It replaced the previous currency, the New Zaire, in 1997. The CDF is the sole legal tender in the country.

The CDF is denoted by the international currency code. It is divided into 1,000 centimes, although in everyday usage, centimes are rarely used, and prices are typically quoted in whole CDF amounts.

The Congolese Franc is issued and regulated by the Central Bank of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Banknotes are commonly available in denominations of 1,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, and 50,000 CDF. Coins are available in values of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 50 centimes.

The value of the CDF can fluctuate based on international currency markets. The economic situation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other factors can also influence the value of the currency.

The use of the CDF is widespread within the borders of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. In some major hotels and tourist areas, foreign currencies, particularly the US dollar, may be accepted. However, in general, the CDF is the primary currency used in daily commerce and transactions within the country.

For more detailed information about the CDF or to obtain current exchange rates, it is recommended to contact the Central Bank of the Democratic Republic of the Congo or a reliable financial source.
