Olaf Scholz

Olaf Scholz is a German politician and a social democrat. He has been serving as the Minister of Finance of Germany since March 14, 2018. Additionally, he has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) since 2002.

Scholz was born on June 14, 1958, in Hamburg, Germany. He studied law and worked as a lawyer. He began his political career by joining the SPD in 1982. He held various political positions in Hamburg and served as the Mayor of Hamburg from 2001 to 2004.

Scholz served as the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany from 2007 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, he held the positions of Federal Minister of Labour and Social Affairs and Federal Minister of Economics and Technology.

In 2018, he was appointed as the Minister of Finance in the Grand Coalition government led by Angela Merkel. As the Minister of Finance, he is responsible for managing Germany’s fiscal policies.
